I have started the avionics upgrade on my plane.
My Design Guidelines are:
1. EFIS based PFD
2. Map display for improved situational awareness
3. Full IFR capabilities
4. Fully autonomous backup EFIS system
5. Aural warning system
6. System could keep up with aerobatics
7. Reduced cockpit clutter
8. Realtime weather
9. Realtime Traffic (ADS-B is fine).
I considered the G500/Dynon/G3X as the primary flight display.
After a long review process i decided to go with the G3X. While Dynon seems to be a great system, I felt that the PFD should be from Garmin. Between the G3X and G500, both system are close in functionality. in fact for L39 aerobatics needs I felt that the G3X provides a superior solution.
Dynon has great systems that can be used for backup. It was critical for me that the backup system will be fully autonomous. Instead of the smaller Dynon systems I decided to go with with the SkyView. While a bit higher in cost, this provides me with a fully functional backup system. In a way, two complete systems (G3X and D700) in the cockpit. Might be considered as an overkill but since I am taking the regular round gauges out, I believe that the backup system is an important investment.
Every display has its own backup battery (G3X and the D700)
At this point I am leaving the main Gauges in their original layout. While replacing the flight instruments is dependent on very reliable ADHRS and other new technology based sensors, changing the engine gauges requires messing with the engine. I dont want this at this point.
There was a lot of thought put into the data fusion in order to avoid a potential 'sensor overload'. This also include Aural warnings and information distribution on the displays. I can share more later if you want.
I added the GTN750 with remote audio and remote transponder. This cleans the cockpit and provides the simplest workflow.
Front seat has backup of the Garmin XL250
Backseat has the GNS530
G3X and Dynon each has its own built in GPS
Total of 5 GPS receivers with a nice cross backup.
3 Radios. 2 in the front, 1 in the back with Isolate capability.
G3X supports the paid subscription.
G3X and Dynon are ADS-B ready.
Displayed on the G3X, 750, 530 and Dynon
Minimum Eye and head movement during primary tasks. We ran several scenarios and made sure that they can be performed with ease. Including IFR scenarios on backup instrumentation.

I Dont think that $40,000 is realistic for a GTN750 + G500 installation. Hardware alone is close to this budgeted amount.
